Why Frequency Matters
JAMB Mathematics has 40 questions drawn from a syllabus that covers algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics and calculus. Some topics, however, show up year after year because they are easy to examine in a single question.
The High-Frequency List
Number bases and indices, logarithms, simultaneous equations and quadratics, variation, sequences and series, circle theorems, mensuration, probability and statistics (mean, median, mode), and basic differentiation. If you master these, you can comfortably secure a majority of the marks.
Spend your first three weeks on this list alone, with ten practice questions per topic.
Speed Beats Brilliance
A question should take about one minute. If you are stuck after 90 seconds, flag it and move on. Many candidates fail Maths not because they cannot solve problems, but because they spend ten minutes on one hard question and then rush the easy ones at the end.
