The Pomodoro Technique: Study Harder in Half the Time

How It Works

Set a timer for 25 minutes. Study one thing only. When the timer rings, take a five-minute break. After four rounds, take a longer 15 to 20 minute break.

Why It Helps

Starting is the hardest part of studying. A short timer lowers the barrier, and the break gives your brain a rest to consolidate what it just learned.

Make It Yours

If 25 minutes feels too short, try 40 on, 10 off. During the break, stand up, drink water and stretch. Do not open social media, because that is the break that never ends.
